Bob Zilg has joined Global Diversity Marketing (GDM) as a Head of International Markets. Bob is a highly experienced insurance professional with almost 40 years in the financial services industry, including over 20 years with MetLife’s international operations. During his tenure with MetLife, he held a number of key positions focused on strategy, distribution, marketing, business development, and creating and implementing strategic growth initiatives. Bob will be leveraging his extensive global experience to extend GDM’s reach outside the U.S.
Prior to retiring from MetLife, Bob completed a 3+ year assignment as Head of Strategy & Planning for MetLife’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Region. Prior to that role, Bob was Vice-President for Growth Strategies in MetLife International. In this role, he was responsible for new business development, including M&A and large organic growth projects, as well as strategy. Earlier on, Bob was also Vice-President of International Sales & Marketing, where he was responsible for the sales and marketing activities of MetLife’s international subsidiaries and affiliates, as well as assessing market entry opportunities. Prior to joining MetLife in 1985, Bob worked in the Group Division of MONY Financial Services for 8 years.
Bob is currently a Strategy & Business Development Advisor to Blocksure, a UK-based InsureTech start-up, focused on blockchain powered insurance solutions.
Bob received a BA degree from St. Joseph’s College (Maine) and holds Master degrees from Seton Hall University and the New School for Social Research. He was awarded the LIMRA Leadership Institute Fellow designation (LLIF) in 2007.
