What do Laurie Hernandez, Shakur Stevenson, and Ibtihaj Muhammad have in common? Each will be representing the United States in the Rio Olympic Games.

Laurie Hernandez, a 16 year old is an explosive gymnast. Her grandparents are from Puerto Rico and she is the first U.S. born Hispanic athlete to make the team since 1980.

Shakur Stevenson, named after famed rapper Tupac Shakur, hails from Newark, N.J. He is the oldest of nine children and is considered one of the finest boxers in recent years.

Ibtihaj Muhammad is an American saber fencer. She is best known for being the first woman to wear a hijab at the games. Ibtihaj is of African American descent and is considered leading candidate for a medal in Rio.
